I-Prober 520 Non Clamp Current Probe

Powertek I-Prober 520 Non-Clamp Current Probe

Isolated and Non-Intrusive High-Frequency Current Probe

The Powertek I-Prober 520 is a revolutionary non-contact and non-clamp current probe designed for fast, easy measurement of AC and DC currents in PCB tracks, component leads, and cables. Unlike traditional probes that require the conductor to pass through a magnetic loop, the I-Prober 520 works by placing the insulated tip directly onto a PCB track, allowing precise current measurement without cutting or interrupting circuits. It’s ideal for use in high-density PCBs and confined spaces.

Modes of Operation:

PCB Track Current Measurement:
Non-contact, non-intrusive measurement for PCB tracks.
Ideal for analyzing currents in high-density circuit boards without requiring disconnection.
Wide dynamic range with low noise performance, making it suitable for various applications.
DC to 5MHz bandwidth, with risetime < 70ns.

Closed-Loop Current Measurement (Wire Mode):
Converts into a conventional “closed magnetic circuit” current probe using the included clip-on toroid assembly.
Measures current in a wire without needing disconnection.
Wide dynamic range, enhanced accuracy, and high rejection of unwanted fields.
1 volt per amp output in Wire Mode.

Electromagnetic Field Measurement (Field Mode):
Measures magnetic fields with 250uT per Volt scaling.
Accurate determination of field sources, enabling engineers to pinpoint the source of electromagnetic interference (EMI).
Field measurement in Teslas or amps per meter.

Additional Features:

Overload Indicator: An LED indicator will light up if the output voltage exceeds ±10V or large magnetic fields cause system saturation.
Calibrator for PCB Measurement: The built-in calibrator allows for fine-tuning sensitivity to match various PCB track widths, ensuring accurate measurements.
Switchable Filters: Bandwidth control for DC to 5MHz, 500kHz, and 2Hz, giving flexibility based on the application and signal type.

Applications:

Current Measurement in PCB Tracks: Non-contact probing of high-density boards, component leads, and fine tracks.
Closed-Loop Current Measurement: With the clip-on toroid, the probe works like a traditional current clamp for measuring currents in wires.
Electromagnetic Field Detection: Measure and analyze magnetic fields generated by components and systems.
VSD (Variable Speed Drive) Testing: Ideal for measuring bearing spark erosion currents and common-mode currents in high-frequency systems.

The I-Prober 520 includes the probe, signal conditioner, clip-on toroid, calibrator, power adapter, and BNC-BNC cable.
