The new Janitza, DIN-rail mounting, UMG 604
Power Analyser is capable of providing 24/7
continuous monitoring and analysis of single
and three-phase, three and four wire
networks as well as providing intelligent
energy management. Basically the Janitza UMG
604 is a multi-functional power and
harmonics analyzer, data logger,
kilowatt-hour and kiloVAR-hour meter as well
as a maximum demand and PLC controller
utilizing logic programming.
The Janitza UMG 604 can be connected to up
to 4 single-phase or to 4 or 3 wire, three
phase networks, requiring only external CTs.
External PTs can be used for voltages
exceeding 300 V AC. The UMG 604 measures
phase voltages and line voltages; line
currents and vector sums of three phase
currents or in the event of a 4 wire system,
also, if required, the vector sum of phase
and neutral current (thus providing
information of possible earth leakage). The
instrument can be used in IT, TN and TT
grids. In addition the UMG 604 analyses
three-phase circuits using symmetrical
components (positive and negative sequence
as well as zero sequence parameters). In
addition to harmonics analysis, including
order, direction, and phase angle, the
Janitza UMG 604 calculates THDI and THDV as
well as K-factor, the latter being an
excellent indicator of the transformer
harmonics carrying capability. The very fast
ADC permits the observation of inrush
currents with durations as short as 50
microseconds.
One of the most powerful features of the
Janitza UMG 604 is its scope for
communication and control, being adaptable
to Profibus, Modbus, and BACnet bus systems
and being transparent to protocols including
TCP/IP, HTTP (freely programmable home
page), TFTP and FTP, NTP time
synchronization, and SMTP and DHCP. The
facility to input temperature parameters via
RTDs and the provision of 64 optional
channels (programmable in Jasic—a
proprietary, easy-to-use programming
language) provides for highly flexible
facility management.
The Janitza UMG 604 is available in a range
of executions thus permitting tailoring to
applications such as one in large
multi-tower complex in which individual UMG
604 analysers each control a floor
containing up to 31, UMG 96 S panel meters
(these provide analysis to the 15th order
for current/voltage harmonics, storage of up
to 160K events plus date stamp). The ability
to use a web browser to access the Janitza
UMG 604 provides highly transparent as well
as remote building management opportunities.
