Rogowski coils
The CWT Miniature current probes utilize
a Rogowski Coil sensor thin enough (typical
cross section 3.5mm) to fit in very confined
spaces - often between the legs of a
semiconductor power switching device. With
high frequency bandwidths up to 20MHz, the
CWT miniature Rogowski coil is ideal for
measuring switching transients or pulsed
currents starting at 300mA up to 300kA in
power electronic equipment. The CWT
miniature Rogowski probe is a clip around
flexible coil current probe based on the
Rogowski principle to achieve high bandwidth
measurement and faithful conversion of
current to voltage, intended for use with
oscilloscopes, data loggers, power meters
and power analysers. Available with a 100mm
or 200mm length clip-around coil, ensuring
easy current monitoring even where access is
limited.
A wide range of rugged clip around
flexible coil current probes using Rogowski
Coil technology for wide bandwidth
measurement and faithful conversion of
current to voltage, intended for use with
oscilloscopes, data loggers, transient
recorders, power meters and power analysers
is available. Based on the Rogowski
principle, these probes give very high
bandwidth performance and measurement of
very high currents (10A-300kA). The small
coil profile (typically 8mm dia), means the
coil can be retrospectively installed
without disruption to an active power
system. As standard, the coil is insulated
at 10kVrms, insulation can be increased if
required. Models are available with a
variety of clip-around coil sizes to suit
most conductors,
allowing easy current monitoring even where
access is limited.

Current
Sensors
The CTHR current sensors convert ac,
ac+dc and dc currents to a dc level
proportional to the A rms. The CTHR sensors
have excellent tolerance for distorted and
complex wave shapes
The CTHR sensors can provide all popular
process control voltage and current loop
outputs along with custom output options. A
range of through hole or split core sensors
means that connection is possible without
shutting down manufacturing plants. Optional
offset control allows nulling of residual ac
currents to ensure best use of the output
span (CTHR). The sensor power input is
designed to operate over a wide voltage
range associated with process control and
sub-station auxiliary dc supply systems.
Active Hall Effect sensor technology
allows measurement from DC-100kHz, depending
on the core type selected. Typical
applications are process control systems
like PLC or SCADA, current monitoring in
ac/dc drives, ultrasonics, welding and
circuit breaker trip coils. For all CTHR
models, a NIST/NPL (UKAS) traceable
calibration certificate and certificate of
conformance is supplied. All CTHR use UL or
CSA approved materials.

Three-phase and single phase
sensors
The RCTi & RCTrms sensors convert ac
current to an isolated 0-5V voltage, 4-20mA
current loop. Optional 1A or 5A outputs
ensure compatibility with existing CT
metering circuits. Both offer a choice of
proportional (rms) and instantaneous
outputs. The available RCT ranges are 0-250A
to 0-50,000Apk. Both RCTi and RCTrms provide
accurate measurement over a wide bandwidth
ensuring precise measurement even with
harmonically distorted waveshapes - using a
flexible clip-on sensing coil. The RCTs are
available in single and three phase.
The RCT sensor can provide all popular
process control voltage and current loop
outputs along with custom output options. A
range of through hole or split core sensors
means that connection is possible without
shutting down an operating feeder. Typical
applications are process control systems
like PLC, SCADA Data logging systems, where
power, energy and current monitoring is
required. Typical loading situations are
ac/dc VFD drives, ultrasonics, welding,
power conversion and power distribution. For
all RCT models, a NIST/NPL (UKAS) traceable
calibration certificate and certificate of
conformance is supplied. All RCT sensors use
UL or CSA approved materials.
