ZIF connectors have been developed to meet a combination of requirements such as low profile, light-weight, secure yet easily removable connections ZIF connectors are used for attaching wires to PCBs. The wires, formed into a ribbon cable, are pre-stripped and the bare ends inserted into the connector. The two sliding parts of the connector are then pushed together, causing the wires to be gripped. The main advantage of this system is that it does not require a mating half to be fitted to the wire ends: it’s a one connector solution.
